Having navigated the trauma of his mother’s deportation and separation during childhood, ByHaze carried the hope of reconnection for years. When the two were finally reunited, he planned a trip to Jamaica to celebrate his mother’s 50th birthday — a journey that became far more profound than he ever imagined.

What began as a celebration transformed into sacred grounds for remembrance, mourning, and transformation. It was also the longest period he had ever spent with his mother before her passing — an experience that catapulted ByHaze into a new understanding of life, family, and community.
